What is my best price?

YouSet’s algorithms are designed to do one thing – find you the best price. By analyzing the details you provide, we scan our network of insurers, apply exclusive discounts, and present you with the best option.

Build a policy that fits your needs and budget in 4 minutes

You know your home and needs better than anyone. With YouSet, you get to choose the optional coverages you want, set coverage limits that work for you, and select a deductible that fits your budget.

Customize your policy

Personal belongings coverage

Personal belongings coverage, also known as contents insurance, protects your property (ex. clothing, electronics, furniture) if it’s damaged or lost in a covered event. It’s automatically included in all YouSet homeowners insurance policies.

Dwelling and detached structures coverage

If the physical structure of your home or any detached structures (ex. shed, garage) are damaged in a covered event, this coverage can help pay for repair or rebuilding costs. It’s automatically included in all YouSet homeowners insurance policies.

Additional living expenses coverage

If you need to relocate temporarily due to a covered claim, additional living expenses coverage can help cover costs like hotel stays or temporary apartment rentals. It’s automatically included in all YouSet homeowners insurance policies.

Personal liability coverage

In the event you cause injury to others or damage their property, personal liability coverage can help cover medical bills, legal expenses, repair costs, and even lost wages for the injured party. It’s automatically included in all YouSet homeowners insurance policies.

Sewer backup coverage

If sewage were to back up into your home from sewers, floor drains, or septic tanks, sewer backup coverage can help cover the cost of the damage. It’s optional, but strongly recommended, especially for homeowners living in neighbourhoods with older plumbing systems.

Overland water coverage

If freshwater unexpectedly accumulates and enters your home, overland water coverage can help cover the cost of the damage. It’s optional, but strongly recommended, especially for homeowners living near bodies of water.

Above-ground water coverage

If water unexpectedly enters your home from above, such as through the roof, walls, windows, or doors, above-ground water coverage can help cover the cost of the damage. It’s optional, but strongly recommended, especially for homeowners living in homes with older roofs or windows or in areas prone to heavy or frequent rainfall.

Identity theft coverage

Unlike your bank, which covers fraudulent charges, identity theft coverage reimburses you for unexpected expenses like legal fees, document replacement, and banking charges.

Coverage for valuables

If you own an item that’s valuable or hard to replace, you can add it to your policy as a floater. That way, if it’s lost or damaged by a covered event, it’s protected for its full appraised value.

Is YouSet insurance legit?

Yes, YouSet is fully legitimate! We are a registered damage insurance brokerage, licensed by the AMF in Quebec and RIBO in Ontario, allowing us to offer a full range of personal lines insurance products in both provinces.

Can I switch to YouSet even though I’m in the middle of a policy elsewhere?

Absolutely – you can switch to YouSet at any time, even if you’re in the middle of a policy elsewhere! While your current provider may charge an Early Termination Fee, the money you save by switching now might more than make up for the fee in the long run.

What is the best way to buy homeowners insurance?

One of the best (and fastest) ways to buy homeowners insurance is online. You can use YouSet to get a quote in under four minutes and purchase your policy online. Here’s how:

  • Start a homeowners insurance quote
  • Answer a few questions about yourself and your home
  • Wait a few seconds as our algorithms automatically compare home insurance quotes from potential insurers in our network and apply exclusive discounts to get you the best price
  • Customize your policy by adding optional coverages, adjusting limits, and selecting the deductible that you can realistically afford
  • Complete your purchase directly on YouSet through our secure online checkout

How do I shop around for homeowners insurance?

When shopping for homeowners insurance, you have two options: you can do it manually, or you can use a platform like YouSet, which does the work for you.

Since manually completing quotes on multiple websites and handling numerous forms can be time-consuming, it’s easiest to start with YouSet. Not only will you unlock broker-exclusive rates and discounts, but our algorithms will automatically compare quotes from multiple insurers in seconds – something that could easily take you hours.

Do you legally have to have home insurance in Canada?

No, home insurance is not legally required in Canada if your home is fully paid for. However, it is strongly recommended, as without it, you would be fully financially responsible for any and all damage to your property, your belongings, and potential liability claims.

How much is home insurance?

On average, homeowners in Quebec pay $82 a month for insurance, while those in Ontario pay $93 a month with YouSet.  Keep in mind that insurers take a number of factors into account when calculating your home insurance premiums, including the location of your home, the age of the home, your claims history, your age, and how you intend to use your home.

Is home insurance tax deductible in Canada?

Yes, if you own a rental property, you are allowed to claim the rental insurance premiums as an expense. Otherwise, home insurance policies are typically not tax deductible.

Is a $2,500 home insurance deductible good?

A $2,500 deductible can be a good option, but only if it’s something you can realistically afford. Don’t knowingly put yourself in a difficult financial position just to save a few dollars on your monthly premium. Always choose a deductible amount you could comfortably cover if you ever need to file a claim.

*Average savings are based on users who purchased home insurance with YouSet on or before June 17, 2024. Individual savings may vary and are not guaranteed.
