I no longer have a car to insure. What should I do with my insurance policy?

If for whatever reason you no longer have the car you originally insured with YouSet, you have two options.

If you plan to purchase or lease a new car soon, you may have the option to transfer your existing insurance policy to the new vehicle. This can often be more convenient and may help you avoid any potential gaps in coverage.

If you no longer need car insurance, you can cancel your policy. This will stop future payments and ensure you are not paying to insure a car you no longer own. However, be aware that canceling your policy before its renewal date might incur a cancellation fee. Most insurance companies charge a fee ranging from 2% to 7% of your premium, with higher percentages applied earlier in the policy term. For example, canceling an $800 annual insurance policy might cost you between $16 and $56.

To go ahead with either of these options, you can do so via Youset’s customer portal.

  • Go YouSet.ca
  • In the top-right, click “My account”
  • Select “Cars” or “Cancellation and non-renewal” depending on your choice
  • Follow the steps that appear on the screen
