This Privacy Policy applies to our website at www.youset.ca (the “Website”), any applications you made to join our team, and any interactions with us by any means (together, “Services”).

If you click through to links to third parties’ websites, applications from our Services, this Privacy Policy does not apply to such external services. It is always a good idea to read their privacy policies to understand what they do with your information.

We collect your information for different purposes, particularly to decide whether to accept or refuse the insurance protection requested, or to review any request to change your insurance policy coverage. You hereby agree that the information you provide to YouSet is correct; otherwise, it is possible that you will be unable to obtain an insurance quote or to purchase or modify an insurance policy online. Job-Related Information Professional experience, skills, resume, etc. We collect this information when you voluntarily provide it to us or because of a job posting.

This information allows us to evaluate your candidacy and whether your experience is appropriate for the job posted.
Technical Information Date, time and duration of your visits on our Website, the pages viewed and links clicked on our Website, your language preferences, browsing history, web pages that redirected you to our Website, etc. We collect this data using cookies and pixels on our Website, including those provided by trusted third parties who collect it on our behalf (such as Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or Smartlook).

This information allows us to compile aggregate data about traffic and interactions on our Website in order to improve the experience and tools on our Website and to provide customized website experiences to our users.

We may ask for documents or pictures, as well as other information, to prove ownership, condition, and value. This helps us process the insurance quote and facilitate the purchase of a policy.

- Analytics Providers: We use Google Analytics web analysis services. We share electronic network activity, and Google Analytics uses this transmitted data to evaluate users’ use of our website.

- Affiliate Marketing Partners: If you are referred to us by an affiliate marketing partner, we may share information with them regarding the issuance, modification or cancellation of your insurance policy to help save you time. - Bank Connection: We use Flinks to allow users to connect to their bank accounts, enabling us to process their purchases through pre-authorized debit.

- Automobile Claims Database Service Provider (Auto Users Only): We share some information, including drivers’ license numbers, to access reports on automobile losses that a driver has been involved in the past. This is mandatory before binding an auto insurance policy.
Professional Advisors We may share your information to our legal, financial, accounting or other consultants to the extent necessary to operate our business and comply with applicable laws.
Law Enforcement and Other authorities We may receive requests by authorities to access your information. We will validate that the request is licit before responding. We will only share what is strictly required.
Commercial Transactions We may share your information with an acquirer, successor or assignee as part of any merger, acquisition, debt financing, sale of assets, or similar transaction, as well as in the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership in which information is transferred to one or more third parties as one of our business assets.

Your information is stored by YouSet in Quebec. However, some of our third-party service providers and professional advisors as described above may be based or share your information outside of the province of Quebec. By submitting information to us, you consent to the communication of your information to, and the storage of that information, outside of the province of Quebec. While such information is outside of your province of residence, it is subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is held, and may be subject to disclosure to the governments, courts or law enforcement or regulatory agencies of such other jurisdictions pursuant to local laws.

However, our practices regarding your information will at all times continue to be governed by this Privacy Policy, and, if applicable, we comply with, where applicable, the applicable legal requirements providing adequate protection for the transfer of information to third countries.

5. How do we secure and keep your information?

We implement physical, administrative and technical safeguards designed to preserve the confidentiality, integrity and security of information under our control. We instruct our employees in the vital importance of maintaining both the confidentiality and privacy of our clients’ personal information. All staff members are mandated to sign legally binding confidentiality agreements that obligate them to respect and secure the private data of our clients. We emphasize to departing staff that their responsibility to protect clients’ private information extends beyond the duration of their employment with us. However, information transmitted on the Internet and/or stored on systems attached to the Internet is not 100% secure, and no security can provide absolute protection. As a result, we do not ensure, warrant or guarantee the security or integrity of such information. 

We retain your information only for as long as is necessary for us to fulfill the relevant purposes specified in this Policy and to comply with our legal obligations.

 

6. What are your rights regarding your information?

Under certain circumstances and subject to applicable data protection laws, supported by a written request and proof of identification, you may consult the personal information that we have collected, used or shared, and/or ask that it be corrected, and/or withdraw your consent to our disclosure or use of personal information collected.

As required or permitted by law, you may be entitled to additional rights, including: (i) the right to control the dissemination of your personal information; (ii) the right to receive computerized personal information collected from you in a structured, commonly used and technological format and to have this information transferred directly to another organization; (iii) the right to be informed of and submit observations regarding automated decision-making; and (iv) the right to request information about data processing. 

Finally, you also have a right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority, in particular in the country/territory where you normally reside, where we are based or where an alleged infringement of data protection law has taken place, such as the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

7. Children’s privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18 on our Website. If you are the parent or legal guardian of a child under 18 who has provided us with personal information, please contact us as set forth in the section below “How to contact us?” to ask us to stop using or to delete that information.

 

8. How to unsubscribe to marketing communications?

If at any time you wish to stop receiving marketing communications from us, we include an unsubscribe mechanism in all of our marketing emails, you can reply with “STOP” to any SMS message you receive from us, or you can contact us as set forth in the section below “How to contact us?”

Please keep in mind that, if you choose not to receive marketing communications, you will continue to receive transactional or account communications related to orders/purchases or other services that you have requested on our Website subject to applicable laws.

 

9. How will you know this Privacy Policy has changed?

From time to time, we may update this Privacy Policy. Any changes will be effective when we post the revised Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy was last updated as of the effective date listed at the top. We will notify you of any changes to this Privacy Policy.
