Growth Marketing Specialist
Are you energized by watching a number move because of something you built? Do you love being in the weeds – running ads, writing scripts, or tweaking a landing page – more than sitting in planning meetings?
We’re looking for a Growth Marketing Specialist to help support YouSet’s growth, working closely with our Senior Performance Marketing Manager across paid campaigns, creative strategy, and content that turns attention into customers.
Think of this as a combo role: part paid ads, part creative strategy, part growth experimentation. You’ll run and optimize paid ads campaigns, shape the creative and content that feeds them, and bring fresh ideas to test, all in service of moving real numbers, not creative for its own sake. You’re comfortable jumping between channels, you learn quickly, and you’d rather ship something and improve it than wait for the perfect brief.
Why YouSet?
YouSet is disrupting the insurance industry with technology, data and human expertise. We’re on a mission to build the most comprehensive and most loved insurance platform in Canada.
We’re growing fast and looking for a talented Growth Marketing Specialist to help us grow even faster. To date, we’ve helped over 500,000 Canadians shop for their home and car insurance with an average of 4.9 stars in online reviews.
What will you be responsible for?
North Star: Drive profitable, scalable growth for YouSet.
1. Paid Ads
- Support the Senior Performance Marketing Manager in day-to-day management of paid ad campaigns (Meta, Google, TikTok, and others)
- Assist with writing, testing, and iterating on ad copy
- Help launch new ads and campaigns, including audience setup, budget allocation, and creative setup
- Monitor campaign performance and assist with optimization (bids, budgets, audiences, placements)
- Track key metrics (CPA, ROAS, CTR, CPM) and help compile performance reports
- Reply to and moderate comments on Facebook & Instagram ads, escalating issues as needed
2. Creative Strategy
- Contribute to creative brainstorming for ads and UGC, informed by what’s already working (or not) in our campaigns
- Recruit and onboard UGC creators
- Write briefs and scripts for UGC creators
- Write creative briefs for our designer and review designs, with an eye toward what’s likely to perform
- Edit UGC videos in VEED
3. Growth Experimentation
- Identify and test new growth channels, formats, or tactics as opportunities come up
- Assist with launching and running our micro-influencer program, including day-to-day creator management
- Help conceive and pitch attention-grabbing acquisition campaigns and promotions (like our Beat Your Renewal campaign), scoping out cost, feasibility, and logistics before helping bring the ones that get greenlit to life
- Build or update campaign landing pages to improve conversion rate
What type of person are you?
- You’re outcome-obsessed. You care less about whose lane something falls into and more about whether it moves the number.
- You’re a creative, outside-the-box thinker. You don’t settle for the obvious idea. You look for the angle nobody else is trying.
- You use data to decide. When something isn’t working, you look at the numbers before jumping to conclusions.
- You move fast. Ads today, a UGC script tomorrow, a landing page tweak the day after: you don’t need everything perfectly scoped to jump in.
- You thrive in ambiguity. You thrive in ambiguity. When the process is unclear, or information is incomplete, you ask the right questions, make reasonable assumptions, and keep moving. You learn fast from what you try, and carry those lessons into whatever comes next.
Do you have what it takes?
- 1-3 years of hands-on experience in paid social, creative strategy, or growth marketing, ideally with Meta Ads Manager experience.
- Comfortable in the tools: You’re fluent with (or quick to pick up) Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads Manager, TikTok Ads, and video editing tools (we use VEED), and just as comfortable writing ad copy or editing a UGC video yourself as you are briefing our designer and creators.
- Strong execution mindset: You can turn a rough idea into a sharp brief, a piece of ad copy, or a live campaign, and you’re comfortable juggling several of those at once without dropping the ball
- Excellent communicator: Strong written skills that show up directly in the work (ad copy, landing page copy, and UGC scripts) plus the verbal clarity and confidence to align with colleagues, our designer, and creators.
- Strong data fluency: Comfortable reading campaign metrics (CPA, ROAS, CTR, CPM) and turning them into a clear recommendation on what to try next.
- Actively use AI tools to speed up ideation, drafting, and production.
What does the interview process look like?
- Discovery call: 30 minutes to assess mutual fit
- Take-home challenge: A short practical exercise to evaluate how you think and work
- Challenge review and final interview: 90 minutes to walk through your challenge and go deeper on your experience
- Reference and background checks: Followed by an offer if it is a match on both sides
What’s in it for you?
- Competitive compensation and stock options
- Up to 5 weeks of vacation per year
- 100% remote (in Canada) or downtown Montreal office
- Work abroad for up to 90 days per year
- Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance
- Unlimited sick & mental health days
- Paid parental leave (4 months top-up)
- Sponsored team activities & events
- Flexible start date (the sooner the better!)
